Olympic Legacy Sport Premium Funding
Wisbech St Mary CE Academy
Number of children in Reception and Years 1 – 6 who are eligible for Sport Premium on the January 2018 School Census = 175
Funding to be received: £11, 750
In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for Physical Education (PE) and sport. This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision. The funding is for the period September 2018 to July 2019. This funding is ring fenced to be used for sport specific areas to make an impact in Physical Education and Sport in schools.
Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and Sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
During the academic year September 2018 to July 2019 we plan to spend our funding in the following areas:
Purchasing outdoor sports equipment
Employing a PE specialist to raise standards in PE and Sport
Funding pool hire for swimming lessons for pupils (including a qualified lifeguard)
Offering free after school sporting activities
Last year only 56% of our pupils were able to swim 25 metres on leaving KS2. This will be a priority this year. We will continue to employ a swimming coach, but ensure the non-swimmers are targeted. We will also reorganise swimming rotas to ensure longer sessions in the pool.
