This week, we have introduced our newest area of continuous provision to Year 1. The children have used a recipe based on the balance method to independently make small batches of cupcakes. As a result, the children have developed a deeper understanding of equal measures, heavier and lighter. They have also solved problems to add or remove ingredients when needed. Our cooking station will remain as an area of provision and will enable children to follow more complex recipes and instructions as the year progresses.
