2018-2019 Summer: Stone Age to Iron Age

Within this we will be looking at changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We will be learning about the Neolithic hunter-gatherers and early farmers, with looking at cave paintings and drawings. We will look at early settlements like Skara Brae and Flag Fen, with having an opportunity to go to the Flag Fen Bronze Age settlement.

We will be looking at the Stone Age then into the Bronze Age and the uses of different materials, then finally looking at the Iron Age and how this is used. Within all of this we will think about the different materials used like flint, bronze and iron, alongside how these are found and made. We will look at the Ice Age and how the glaciers changed the land. We will look at the use of stones in the building of Stonehenge. Within all of this we will be making Round Houses, cave paintings and recreating Stonehenge.

Within all of this we will be looking at rocks and light, thinking about how these were used within the construction of places like Stonehenge.
