2020: Our amazing Home Learning journey
Summer Term 2020
Even though the weather has been miserable this week, the children of Mowbray class have still be amazing! This week, we have been focusing on a significant person from history - Florence Nightingale. First we thought about questions that we would ask her if she was alive today.
We then gathered information about Florence in preparation for creating an informative poster about her life.
We also thought about how she has impacted on modern day nursing. We compared what it is like in a modern hospital to what it was like in Scutari.
We also recreated the hospital in Scutari using items around our home. We have used lego, dolls and even pillows to create the hospital.
We have also been practising our addition skills. We have focused on our number bonds to 10 and how these relate to number bonds to 100, developed our fluency with adding and subtracting single digit numbers from a two digit numbers, ten more and ten less with money and looked at the relationship and inverse of numbers.
On top of that we have been busy learning new skills.
I am so proud of how all of the children have been coping with the challenging times that we are living through at the moment. Here is how Mowbray class have been keeping themselves busy this half term.
We've been getting outside!
We've been creative
We've been mathematicians
We have been writers, practising lots of skills such as using possessive apostrophes, using capital letters for names, practising our handwriting and focusing on our class novel 'The Enchanted Wood'.
And, we've been active!
