2020-2021 - Summer 2 - Oh I do like to be beside the seaside
This half term we will be learning all about the seaside! Our core texts during this topic are 'The lighthouse keeper's lunch', 'The secret of Black Rock' and 'The Storm Whale'. We'll be continuing our work on the Victorians and comparing the seaside holidays that children had during that time and comparing them to modern day seaside holidays. As part of this we will be looking at Punch and Judy puppets in detail and using these to design our own puppets. We will be learning how to use a running stitch and a cross stitch.
We will also be developing our fieldwork and map reading skills including knowing and understanding the compass directions North, South, East and West and using aerial photographs of beaches to create our own using symbols and creating our own keys.
We will be finishing the topics by studying rockpools as microhabitats and learning about why these are great for sea creatures.
