Our Phonics programme
Phonics at Wisbech St Mary Academy
From September 2020 we are delighted to adopt a programme called Sounds Write. The majority of staff are now linguistic phonics practitioners and are trained to support your child to develop their phonemic awareness and spelling. Here is a summary of what will remain the same and what will be different from the previous way phonics was taught.
Phonic sessions
Will still be taught everyday with the whole class
We will no longer be teaching using the Story time phonics programme.
Will no longer be taught using actions or pictures. They will always be taught in the context of a word.
