RECEPTION - HUDSON
Teachers: Mrs Katie Ross and Ms Cook
Teaching Assistants: Mrs Agger
In Reception, we value each child as an individual with a unique potential for learning.
We use ‘In the Moment Planning’ to allow the children to direct their own learning and to create opportunities to seize the moment when a child shows interest in an activity which can be built upon needs to be recognised, these are called 'teachable moments'. Written 'planning' is then carried out in the form of observations, records of the interactions and notes on the outcomes.
By providing a play-based and stimulating environment with lots of resources and variety, both in and outdoors, it will allow children to independently explore and develop their own ideas. The children will have the opportunity for free flow, allowing them to spend time outside, as and when they chose to do so. We will provide the children with a ‘hook’ each week, which will link to different religious celebrations, times of year or their interests.
Children will have the opportunity to take risks, and to be challenged across the prime and specific areas of learning and development. This will be supported during our time in the Forest Schools area, where children are encourage to be independent learners and to facilitate their own learning.
