Values and Ethos

Values and Ethos

Our aim is to bring the best out of every pupil that attends Wisbech St Mary's

Our Ethos:

Wisbech St Mary Church of England Academy is committed to creating a safe and secure environment within a Christian context in which each child is valued and can achieve their potential.

Everyone is expected to take responsibility for their actions and to show care and concern for people, the school and its contents. We recognise that every member of the school community has a responsibility to treat others as they wish to be treated (Luke 6:31) and to model the qualities and characteristics of good citizenship.

Staff are committed to working closely with parents, pupils and Governors to promote a culture of respect and tolerance were all children receive a high quality of education and are enabled to achieve their best. We will always take an inclusive, considered, and sensitive approach in order that we can support all of our pupils.

Our Vision: Be the light.

We choose Be the Light as our vision because we want to demonstrate the love of Jesus in our world through our Christian values. Jesus told us in Matthew (5:14-16), “You are the light of the world…let your light shine before all, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Jesus is the true light that shines from within us (John 8:12). We want all members of our school community to thrive and Be the Light in our world, so they make a positive difference today and in the future.

Our Values: Ready, Respectful, and Safe

At Wisbech St Mary Church of England Academy we believe that our school is a caring Christian Community firmly founded on the Christian values of love, respect and consideration for others. We reflect these values in the day to day running of the school, in all aspects of the curriculum and in every area of our school life.

As a school community we demonstrate these values through three key words;

  • READY: Being ready to learn, being ready to play, being ready for school in the morning, being ready to get the best out of the day, being ready to accept the views and ideas of others.
  • RESPECTFUL: Being respectful of ourselves, respectful of others, respectful of our differences, respectful of property and respectful of the world around us.
  • SAFE: Being safe in our play, safe in how we move around school, safe in the street, safe at home, safe in who we talk to online or in person.

Our Mission:

In order to embody our Ethos, Values and realise our Vision, we aim to:
